The Launch of “KOCKA”: A New Symbol of Modular Design and Cultural Expression

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, July 22, 2025

Sarajevo International Airport and KulinWorld d.o.o. proudly present the first installation of KOCKA — an innovative concept in modular micro-architecture that redefines the role of public space in contemporary travel environments. Rooted in Bosnian identity and designed with minimalist precision, KOCKA transforms functional infrastructure into a deeply cultural experience.

At its core, KOCKA is a physical manifestation of “ćejf” — the uniquely Bosnian experience of quiet moments of enjoyment and reflection. Its refined design creates a space that invites travelers to pause, connect, and engage with a contemporary interpretation of local tradition.

An Award-Winning Concept Rich in Culture

Recipient of the 2025 German Design Award and the 2025 German Brand Award, the KOCKA kiosk stands as proof of design’s power — not only as a functional solution, but also as a storytelling medium. With an award-winning architectural structure and a strong visual identity, this kiosk goes beyond aesthetics — it tells a story of place, memory, and innovation.

Situated in a prominent outdoor area of Sarajevo International Airport, the KOCKA kiosk serves as a cultural landmark — a striking ambassador of design philosophy, sustainability principles, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tradition of hospitality. Built from environmentally responsible materials and designed for adaptability, this structure embodies progressive values in both form and function.

A Shared Vision of Contemporary Cultural Expression

This collaboration between public infrastructure and private creativity illustrates the growing role of design in shaping national identity and enhancing soft power through everyday experiences.

Dr. Senada Demirović, D.I.A., Executive Director for Architecture, Heritage, and Urban Development at KulinWorld d.o.o., stated:

“KOCKA is our tribute to the creative soul of Bosnia — a meeting place between past and future, between aesthetic clarity and emotional depth. We are proud to join forces with Sarajevo International Airport to redefine what meaningful presence in public space can be.”

Mr. Sanin Ramezić, Acting Director of Sarajevo International Airport, added:

“Airports are gateways through which a country presents itself to the world. With KOCKA, we offer our travelers a story that celebrates Bosnia and Herzegovina’s design intelligence, sustainability, and cultural richness. This project strengthens the airport’s role as both a logistics hub and a cultural landmark.”
